A nation celebrates

By Aachi Mithin - 8:02 PM Sunday 23 July 2006

A six year old boy by his superhuman courage overcomes a superhuman ordeal, unifies a nation and lifts a grieving country post 7/11 into waves of happiness.

The amazing ordeal of Prince, the six year old boy who accidentally fell into a 60 feet deep borewell hole while playing has been the main headlines that has made the entire nation bite its nails for the past two days.

The boy whose picture has been flashed across televisions all over the country stayed in the hole for nearly 50 hours before he was rescued. The CCTV images of the child were a revelation to all of us when faced with adamantine difficulties.

He broke down only once.

I cant imagine from where such a delicate child garnered such supehuman patience and strength.

I feel it has to do with rolemodels. A nation grieving post 7/11 needed a hero. A story of courage and a miracle. The story of Prince has given it the much needed let out.

The six year old boy has proven that he is a Prince among men.

I salute his strength.

lots of love.

i felt the same aachi. he united the nation what with all sikhs, muslms, hindus, christians praying for him and rejoicing when he was rescued. he indeed helped the nation forget 7/11. perhaps the nation can build up on the opportunity of unity provided by him.

he looked ramana maharshi sitting in the cave again to me.

even more amazing thing about the boy was that it was his real birth day as well on which his ordeal ended and he sort of was reborn....

Hi Aachi

Indeed a courageous little boy. It's so fascinating though how it really is a world dictated by the media. Everyday scores of people are trapped in awful situations all over the country, some stories carried as little news items in newspapers and others splashed across the country on news channels and the majority we probably never hear of. Prince for me was just a statement on the power of the media that even Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh were forced to send their support. Will they do that for every victim??? I doubt it. Is that fair then?

All just the play of karma I guess. A little Prince in Kurukshetra was owed recognition by the entire nation. Good for him.
